Pauline Snoeijs Leijonmalm, Professor of Marine Ecology at Stockholm University, will go on her fourth research expedition with the icebreaker Oden, where she will have the role of Chief Scientist. On July 25, the icebreaker Oden will depart to complete the Swedish part of the international research program Synoptic Arctic Survey in the Arctic Ocean.

In collaboration with Prince Eugens Waldemarsudde, the Swedish Polar Research Secretariat arranges an art exhibition that is complemented by a rich and interesting program with lectures, talks and concerts.
Eight prominent contemporary artists: Lars Lerin, Dascha Esselius, Bigert & Bergström, Svenerik Jakobsson, Hanna Ljungh, Josef Bull, Sigrid Sandström and Johan Petterson, participate in this experimental and innovative exhibition linked to the Swedish Polar Research Secretariat's expeditions to the Arctic and Antarctic where artists have participated. The exhibition highlights interesting issues at the intersection of art and science and is presented in the form of paintings, graphics, photographs, sculptural objects, light installations, and cinematic works.
SLU now offers researchers in Sweden the chance to carry out projects with R/V Svea during an expedition from 25 - 29 October 2021.

Four Antarctic organisations have announced opportunities for early-career professionals.
The organisations have been working together for many years to support talented early-career researchers, scientists, engineers, environmental managers, and other professionals to strengthen international capacity and cooperation in fields such as climate, biodiversity, conservation, humanities and astrophysics research by way of an annual funding opportunity. The aim is to strengthen international research collaboration in areas such as climate, biodiversity, humanities and astrophysics.
